Celerty Inspired: Taylor Swift

outfit 1 inspired by Taylor Swift

Top: Boscovs / Jeans: Old Navy Rockstar / Flats: Urban Outfitters / Bag: H&M

So I though it'd be fun every once and a while to do a celebrity inspired look for every day. For my first one, I went with Taylor Swift. I've always loved her fashion, and this outfit embodies her. Classic stripes, skinny jeans, flats, and of course, a red lip.

Patterned Tank

Tank: H&M / Cardigan: Old Navy / Pants: H&M / Boots: Steve Madden / Bracelet: Claire's

Unfortunately, it's still a bit chilly here, so I couldn't wear one of my favorite tops without my cardigan. And hey, for once not everything in my outfit is from Old Navy! Also, I picked up this adorable bracelet for $1 on clearance at Claire's. Hope every one had a great week. It's finally Friday!

Beauty Scenarios Tag

Last week, the lovely Sarah of Shades of Sarah tagged me to do the beauty scenarios tag! I figured this would be fun to do, so why not!

1. You have to get rid of all your foundations and you can only keep one high-end and one drugstore, which do you keep?
Well to be honest, I don't wear foundation most days, and the only foundation I own is Revlon's Nearly Naked, so it would have to be that one!
2. You go for an interview and the lady interviewing you has lipstick on her teeth. Do you approach the subject or ignore it completely?
I think I would say so, seeing as if I had some on my teeth I'd want someone to tell me.

3. You’re not feeling yourself and need a pick me up. Which lipstick do you put on to make yourself feel beautiful?
My Buxom lip gloss in berry blast!

4. You go back in time for a day to your teenage years, how would you do your hair and makeup differently?
I'd learn to do eye makeup properly. I used to wear no primer, purple eyeshadow, and black eyeliner. Every time I wore makeup. Yikes.

5. You ask your hairdresser for a shoulder length Pixie Lott hair cut, but they hear wrong and give you a pixi cut. Do you a) Smile, say thank you, leave and call your mom hysterical b) Cry in the chair and things get awkward or c) Complain to the manager and demand a refund.
Probably a, since my hair grows back pretty fast anyway, and crying over it won't bring it back!

6. Your friend surprises you with a 4-day city break and you have 1 hour to pack. Which ‘do it all’ palette do you pack in your makeup bag?
My Clinique palette that has two eyeshadows and a blush that I got for free with a purchase. It's a great natural every day look!

7. Your house has been robbed, don’t worry everyone is safe, but your beauty stash has been raided. What’s the product you really hope is safe?
Oh man. Probably my Lancome matte red lipstick. I can't live without it and I've never found a red that suits me better.

8. Your friend borrows your makeup and returns it in awful condition. Do you a) Just pretend you haven’t noticed b) Ask them to repurchase it or c) Secretly do the same to something of theirs?
I would hope if that happened they'd go with b, but if not, I'd just do a. It's just makeup!

Easter Sunday

Dress: Gap / Wedges: Old Navy / Sweater: Old Navy

Of course, when a holiday comes, it also brings along dressing up. As someone shopping on a budget, I'm proud to say I got this dress and shoes for a grand total of $10. Yeah. $10. I picked up this dress back in the fall for around $7 at the Gap outlet (Tip: Shop off season!) and these wedges from last year I picked up at Old Navy on clearance for $2. This dress isn't typically something I would go for, but I loved all the colors and the fit of it, also the cutout on the back is adorable. I hope you all had a great Easter!

Weekend Errands

Tee: Bass  / Pants: H&M
Oxfords: Target / Bag: Urban Outfitters

Okay I'm going to say it. I'm obsessed with the top and may have worn it 3 times in the pats two weeks. I picked this up at the Bass outlet for only $12 and I'm in love. The colors just scream spring to me and I'm always a sucker for stripes. This is a casual look that I'd wear out for errands most weekends. And of course, I have my coffee in hand.

Spring Lip Colors

Now that it FINALLY feels like spring, it's time to break out some of my favorite lip colors! Though I still believe you can wear any colors any time of the year, these are the ones I reach for most often in the spring!

This first one is probably my favorite of the bunch. Buxom lip glosses are my absolute favorite and if you have the extra money, definitely worth the splurge. This color is called Berry Blast and it a creamy purple-pink color. These not only have a creamy finish, but I find that I only need to re-apply this after my lunch (which is great for a lip gloss). This one I reach for when I'm wearing a more neutral eye, or just want a pop of color to my look.
$19 at Sephora

On a less vivid scale, I always like a creamy, nude pink for every day. Primrose from Revlon is just that. Not only is Revlon my favorite drugstore lipstick brand, it also comes in the most shades. This color I picked up on a whim, but I'm glad I did.
$6.99 at Ulta

Another great spring lip color to include in your collection is orange. Now I'm one to somewhat shy away from that color, so by getting this in a lip butter form, it's more sheer and looks more natural. Tutti Frutti comes off slightly opaque, so you get that orange tint without it looking extreme. These are also incredibly moisturizing.
$7.99 at Ulta

Lastly, of course, I had to include a red. It's my staple. This one is a brighter, vibrant red great for the spring. Certainly Red from Revlon is, just like every other Revlon lipstick, opaque, creamy, and long lasting. I find this one does bleed a tiny bit, so I solve that problem by applying some concealer around the lips.

Mixing Patterns

Flannel: Old Navy (similar) / Tee: Old Navy (available in solid colors)
Jeans: Old Navy (here) / Sneakers: Converse (here)

So for today's look, I decided to do some mixing of patterns. I think that's always a fun way to make an outfit interesting. My tip is to stay within the same color range with your patterns, so it's not too overwhelming (I stayed in the black, white, and gray color family).

Ankle Boots

Top: Old Navy (here) / Jeans: JC Penney (here)
Ankle Boots: Target (suede is online) / Bag: H&M (similar)

If you haven't already been able to tell, I love me some ankle boots, so when I saw these for $10... yes... $10 at Target, I snatched them up. I love how these are also a bit lower than my other pair, so these will be great with skirts, dresses, and shorts. The gold detailing on the heel also sold me, since I mainly wear gold jewelry.

What's in My Purse?

I don't know what it is, but girls are always curious about what we keep in our purses. I decided to fulfill your curiosity and post about what I keep in mine for everyday.

Alright so, like most girls, I don't only own one purse, but the purse I've been using the most recently is this brown tote I got from Urban Outfitters. Unfortunately I could not find the exact one online, but here's a similar style. This also came in black and yellow, but since most of my bags are already black I thought I'd change it up and go for a brown. I like this bag because it has different compartments to keep me organized, and has a long shoulder strap so my arms don't get tired. This also fits everything I need for the day.

First thing I always keep a small makeup bag with my essentials. I usually have a lip balm, hand sanitizer, hair ties, hand cream, body spray, and a red lipstick. I rarely touch up my makeup during the day, but I do like to have a lipstick just incase I'm heading somewhere right after work. This pouch is actually from a free gift with purchase from Ulta, but you can find these anywhere.

Next is, of course, my wallet. This one I got at the Kate Spade outlet for only $40, which still sounds like a lot, but when it comes to a wallet, I like to invest a bit more because it's something I use every single day. I also like how the material of this wallet is easy to clean. I have my ID, cards, and I tend to keep a little bit of cash just incase.

I also always keep my planner with me. I need it to function. This one I got at Target from their collaboration with Sugar Paper LA for around $8 (I'm not sure if it's still sold in stores, but I know they don't sell them online).

I also ave to have in my purse is a pair of sunglasses. This pair I got from the J. Crew outlet for around $12. I keep mine in a hard case I got when I bought my every day glasses, so that way when I'm using my sunglasses I also have a place to put my regular glasses.

Another thing I always keep in my purse is a water bottle and some type of snack. I'm looking for a nice, reusable water bottle, but for now I've been using disposable plastic ones (I know it's not good for the environment... don't hate me!). I also usually put a granola bar or some type of snack that I know won't go bad, so if I don't eat it that day I can always eat it the next day.

Lastly, in the front two sections I keep my phone charger, headphones, and cell phone. I like to keep my earbuds in the front section so that way they don't  get tangled with everything else.  My phone I usually keep in the zipper compartment at the top so it's separate from everything as well, and I can still hear it if it rings.

Overall these are the things I find myself keeping in my purse the most. Sometimes there will be different things here and there, but if I don't have these in my purse I feel like a part of me is missing. I never used to be a purse person, but I think once you're in your 20s, you can't leave your house without it.

Neutral Stripes

Cardigan: Old Navy (similar) / Tank: Old Navy
Jeans: Old Navy (here) / Shoes: Old Navy (here) / Bag: Urban Outfitters (similar)

Another striped top. Are we shocked? No. I've already featured the black and white version of this, but when I saw this color on sale for $3.99... I was sold. Also I'm obsessed with these shoes. I have a feeling nude flats are going to be in this season, and I love the pop of gold. This bag is also going to be featured on Wednesday's post so stay tuned!

Boyfriend Jeans

Top: Gap / Jeans: Old Navy (here)
Boots: Urban Outfitters (here) / Bag: Charlotte Russe

Boyfriend jeans are all the rage this season. Though these exact jeans are marketed as boyfriend style, I find that when I cuff them, they give the same effect. Also of course, I had to add my favorite pattern, stripes.

How I Edit my Instagram Photos

Okay so this post may seem weird, but one of my Instagram followers asked me to make this a few weeks ago, so I figured why not!

So first, obviously, I take the picture. I usually do this in the Camera app. For my pictures, I like to get the most natural light as possible because I find they turn out better.

I then use the app Afterlight, which is where I do all my editing. There, I'll open the picture.

The first thing I do is go to the is rotate the picture. Since I didn't need to for this one, I turn go to the rainbow circle. There I click on the guest filters and use the filter called Russ. This is the one that is on all my photos.

After I apply that filter, I then go to the bars, and tap on the sun icon. There I'll adjust the brightness if I feel that I need to. After that, I'm finished and I'll upload it to Instagram!

After reading this I feel silly even making this post, but once again this was requested and I thought I'd share with you guys!
